He develops non-contact, non-invasive optical imaging tools to study tissue structure and function. Real-time imaging with a few micron spatial resolution is performed by the intensity, phase and polarization based contrasts of optical coherence tomography. Research interests include brain imaging and mapping, imaging neural action potentials, and developing sensors for ultrasensitive detection.
